7 out of 10 points and not recommendedGood image quality, Macro mode, F 2.8HAZY! Hard to get clean lens, Push-pull zoom, 2x zoom factorThis lens has very good image quality.
reviewed September 18th, 2022 (purchased for $87)
I have two sample not-hazy lens and strong-hazy lens.
without haze, this lens is very good with low-cost.
but I can't recommend this lens because too many samples has strong haze.
If you get excellent sample, It can be you favorite lens in low-cost collection. -
Nikon 24mm f/2.8D AF Nikkor
9 out of 10 points and recommendedNice Sunstar, Usefull lens with FX body (such as D700, D3), Cheaper than 20/2.8D, Fast AF speedIsn't very sharp lens.Recommend for FX body.
reviewed September 18th, 2022 (purchased for $100)
I'll recommend AF-S 35.8 if using DX.
Better quality than 28/2.8D.
Cheaper than 20/2.8D or 20-35/2.8D
If you find low-coast single lens,
I'll recommend this lens. -
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor
7 out of 10 points and recommendedCHEAP! F 1.8 lens with under $50.PLASTIC! Image quality isn't good enough Marking is weak. erases easily, Hard to use lens cap if using hood. Made in China.MOUNT COVER with usefull AF Lens!
reviewed September 18th, 2022 (purchased for $42)
Good Lens with super low-cost both FX and DX.
Recommend If you spend all money to body or another lens.
Quality isn't bad in this price.
If you have more money for buying 50mm single lens,
I'll recommend 50/1.4D. -
Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF Nikkor
9 out of 10 points and recommendedCheaper than AF-S, Better build quality than 50/1.8D Image quality can compare with more expensive AF-S 50/1.4G. Made in Japan. We can consider cheaper 50/1.8D.Lens quality is good.
reviewed September 18th, 2022 (purchased for $90)
Better build quality than 50/1.8D.
All-OK with FX or DX.
If you okay with plastic case and made in china lens, Why don't buy cheaper 50/1.8D ?
50/1.8D is better choice with HALF PRICE. -
Sony E 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ OSS SELP1650
4 out of 10 points and not recommendedLight lens with low-cost. Pancake lens.PLASTIC! poor durability. software-dependent lens. image soft.I had 4 samples. 2 is works good and other 2 is broken lens.
reviewed September 18th, 2022 (purchased for $36)
It is plastic lens with poor durability.
I'll call this lens "Nice Lens Cap with Zoom lens"
It can be useful low-cost zoom lens if you don't have enough money to buy other lens.
has some vignetting.
if you use it on the body before the lens is released,
the software-calibrate isn't work. It resulting a strong vignetting in 16mm that is difficult to use. -
Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AIS Nikkor
10 out of 10 points and recommendedHigh-quality with Low-cost Recommend for Film or adapt to Mirrorless (such as Sony A7) Fast lens ( F 1.4 )Manual focusOptical performance is great.
reviewed September 18th, 2022 (purchased for $65)
(Better than AF 50.4 I guess.)
More useful than AF lens to use digital mirrorless camera.
MF lens has more better design for manual using.
Use with Nikon FX ( such as D700, D3) is good too.
They has MF guide with arrows. That arrows make manual focusing easly.
Build quality is BEST.
much better than plastic AF Lenses.
This metal lens have strong durability.
When I dropped This lens, the filter was break to pieces. but lens wasn't damaged. -
Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR DX AF-S Nikkor
6 out of 10 points and recommendedLight and cheap KIT lens. VR, ED lens, Good for simply use ( FX equiv. 27-82) quiet AF-S focusing.Cheap-looking design with Terrible PLASTIC! Variable aperture. Slow lens.(3.5~5.6) Soft. This lens will be nice select to using with DX DSLRs like D40.
reviewed September 19th, 2022 (purchased for $25)
Very cheap lens. ( used lens is only 25~40$! )
It has VR technology and ED lens.
Not so sharp, but okay with this price.
Recommend using on daylight. Not good in indoor using and night. ( it will need high ISO )
How about using DX 35/1.8G with this lens to cover indoor and night shooting?
I'll use 18-70/3.5-4.5 with better design and speed if I didn't buy both lenses. -
Nikon 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED DX AF-S Nikkor
3 out of 10 points and not recommendedLong zoom distance. ED lens. quiet AF-S focusing.Poor build quality with Terrible PLASTIC!, None-VR, Strong distortion, No Distance Window, Frequent poor connection. Grip rubber can be stretch easily. Dust can flow into inside of lens easily. This lens can has some poor connection.
reviewed September 19th, 2022
I tested my sample with four cameras. (D40X, D70S, D80, S5 pro)
I guess it because of poor build quality. (This lens using poor plastic.)
Optical performance is not cool (Vignetting and Distortion) but I'll forget it with this price.
I like Distance Window because it makes look like more professional. but it doesn't have it.
(I recommend DX 18-70 3.5-4.5 if you want distance window.)
Grip rubber on zoom ring can be stretch easily.
Dust can flow into inside of lens easily. I repair that with lens-disassembly tool.
I'll recommend this lens for only who want long-range zoom lens with low cost.
If you have more money for buying lens, how about 18-140 with VR?
or you can use more cheaper 18-55 VR with better optical performance and buy 55-200 telescope lens.
